Slow Ventures general partner Sam Lessin said Monday that the future of the cryptocurrency space in 2022 will largely be determined by where the top developers direct their efforts. "The big theme for the year in crypto, and in a lot of the metaverse stuff, is going to be developer mindshare and tools," Lessin told CNBC. "If you follow developers and where the smartest people are, that's where you're going to get the best experiences," he added. Looking at the development of technology as a whole, Lessin argued that a core theme of the next few years will be the tension between centralized development, largely led by Big Tech players, and the decentralized elements coming out of crypto and Web3.
