Twitter (TWTR -0.5%) is setting up a team dedicated to crypto, the latest push by CEO Jack Dorsey to move further into decentralized finance and digital assets. The Twitter Crypto team will be led by Tess Rinearson, charged with setting "strategy for the future of crypto at (and on) Twitter," the Financial Times reports. In the short term the team is exploring payments, earnings for content creators and "decentralization" of social media. It's meant, though, to be a "center for excellence for all things blockchain and Web3." “Twitter gets crypto, and its early integration of Bitcoin Tips (BTC-USD) and NFT authentication demonstrates that,” Rinearson says. The new emphasis follows Twitter's pursuit of a tool allowing users to tip each other using bitcoin.
