Bitcoin's now over $30K, but Ethereum steals the show to start the year

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) made plenty of news over the holiday weekend, blasting through $30K on its way to nearly $35K at one point on Sunday morning. The rally stalled at that point, and an early morning plunge today briefly took the crypto back below $30K. It's currently at $31.1K, still well above Thursday's closing levels, so look for big moves higher this morning from names like Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), Microstrategy (MSTR), Riot Blockchain (RIOT), Overstock (OSTK), Marathon Patent (MARA), HIVE Blockchain (HVBTF).As big as that action was, it pales in comparison to Ethereum (ETH-USD), which at one point over the weekend had risen more than 50% from New Year's Eve levels.
