Trying to top Miami's mayor, New York City mayor-elect Eric Adams says he'll take his first three paychecks in bitcoin (BTC-USD) once he takes office. "NYC is going to be the center of the cryptocurrency industry and other fast-growing, innovative industries! Just wait!," he says via tweet. That comes two days after Miami mayor Francis Suarez said he'll take his next paycheck in 100% bitcoin (BTC-USD). Last month, Suarez said he wanted Miami to become "the crypto capital of the world," when he announced that the city will issue a request for a proposal to enable the city's residents to pay fees, and maybe someday taxes, in bitcoin (BTC-USD). The world's most popular cryptocurrency received more attention when podcaster Joe Rogan may have accepted a $100K payment in bitcoin.
