Private equity giant KKR (NYSE:KKR) plans to back a Series D funding round for crypto platform Anchorage, valuing the company at about $3B, people familiar with the matter told The Information. Anchorage offers crypto custody, trading and financing services for financial institutions. Recall In January, Anchorage Digital Bank National Association became the first ever federally chartered digital asset bank after receiving conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for a national trust charter. In October, Anchorage raised an $80M Series C funding round but didn't disclose the valuation, sources told CoinDesk. CoinDesk notes that in September, KKR (KKR) backed the flagship fund of ParaFi Capital, which focuses on DeFi markets, making it KKR's first blockchain-based investment. Shares of KKR are flat intra-day. Earlier this month, KKR expanded its KREST industrial real estate portfolio with two new acquisitions.
